Good news for train passengers… Only 12 coaches left in all!

Chennai/Tamil Nadu/India : Tens of thousands of people from Chennai and neighboring districts such as Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram and Chengalpattu districts come to Chennai city for various reasons including business and medicine. Chennai suburban trains play an important role in the transportation they use to reach the capital city and return home every day.

Suburban electric trains are the first choice of the poor and middle class in public transport due to the fact that the travel fare is less compared to the city bus and metro train transport, and there is no problem of traffic jams. Thousands of people especially those going to schools, colleges, students, employees working in government and private companies are traveling in suburban electric trains every day.

For the convenience of the public, 500 trips (Trips) of Suburban Electric Trains are being operated daily from Chennai Beach to Tambaram, Chengalpattu, Velachery, Tirumalpur and from Chennai Central to Thiruvallur and Kummidipoondi. Even though so many trains are running every day, there is no less rush of passengers during peak hours.

Considering this, the Southern Railway Administration has informed that all Chennai suburban trains will soon be converted into 12-coach trains.

Most of the suburban electric trains running on Tambaram and Chengalpattu routes from Chennai coast are running with 12 coaches. But at the same time, up to 60 percent of the trains running on Thiruvallur and Kummidipoondi routes from Chennai Central are running with 12 coaches and 40 percent trains are running with 9 coaches.

Steps are being taken to run 40 percent of these trains with 12 coaches. In the first phase, the work of widening the platforms on these routes is almost complete. The Southern Railway Administration has said that gradually by the end of this year, all trains will run with 12 coaches on these routes.

Commuters are happy as all the Chennai Suburban Electric Trains will run with 12 coaches, which will change the day to day traffic jams during peak hours.

No matter what metro train comes, the Chennai Suburban Electric Train still has a special mouse among the public.
