Sunny 49 degrees in Delhi, UP: Highest temperature recorded since 1966; People suffer

INDIA: Delhi and Uttar Pradesh recorded a maximum temperature of 49 degrees Celsius on Sunday (May 15). This temperature was recorded only in the Mungespur region, which is adjacent to Haryana. This is said to be the first time since 1966 that Delhi has recorded such a maximum temperature.

Like Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan also recorded extreme temperatures yesterday. People were suffering due to the sun and hot wind.

RK Jenamani, a scientist at the Indian Meteorological Center in Delhi, said, “There were temptations from the west in March, April, and May. But nothing brought rain. Either the sky was overcast or there was a strong wind. Due to this, the temperature rose and the rain did not bring comfort. “Delhi has received light rain only on April 21 and May 4,” he said.

May 15th was recorded as the hottest day of the year. Similarly, last April reached the highest temperature record in 70 years. The whole of Delhi recorded a widespread average temperature of 45 degrees yesterday. Only Mungespur and Najafgarh recorded a temperature of 49 degrees. Both these areas are located in South East Delhi.

Red Alert: Meanwhile, a red alert has been issued for the state of Rajasthan, predicting an increase in temperature. An orange alert has been issued for Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Delhi.

A green alert indicating temperature means no action is required. A yellow alert means to be careful. An orange alert means to be on alert and a red alert means to carry out rescue and relief operations.

In this case, the India Meteorological Department has predicted that the heat wave will increase in North-West and Central India today and its intensity and spread may decrease slightly tomorrow (May 17).

While North and West India will suffer from the heat, rain is likely to occur in most districts of Tamil Nadu for the next 4 days. The Meteorological Department has warned that heavy rain may occur in some districts. Similarly, widespread heavy rains are falling in Kerala too. A red alert has been issued in 5 districts namely Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Malappuram, and Kozhikode, stressing that heavy rains may occur.
