Madurai: A non-vegetarian festival is celebrated annually in the month of Margazhi at the ancient Karumparai Sri Muthiah Sami temple in the village of Napapatti next to Thirumangalam in Madurai district. Similarly, this year, more than 5000 men from more than 18 villages including Karadikal, Chekanurani, Chathangudi Sorikambatti, rural areas around Patapatti, have participated in the festival and worshiped Karumparai Sri Muttiah Swamy. By keeping 150 goats, they prepared intestine broth/curry mixture and served it to the men who gathered there, and the festival team enjoyed it. The festival team said that this festival is held every year so that agriculture flourishes and people live free from disease. More than 5000 men who participated in the festival and enjoyed non-vegetarian food eat leaves and leave them at the same place.
