The public protest stopped the Public Works Department officials who came to demolish the temple adjacent to Madurai Muthupatti Kanmai due to water encroachment.

Madurai: It is said that there was a Ganesha temple for more than 50 years and an Angala Iswari temple for more than 15 years at a place adjacent to Kanmai in the Muthupatti area of Madurai. In this situation, as the Tamil Nadu government has ordered the removal of encroachments on the water bodies, after the Public Works Department officials came to demolish these temples today, more than 200 citizens including women in Muthupatti area protested against the demolition of the temple.
