Indian President Draupadi Murmu will launch the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan virtually on 9th September 2022. The Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan aims to eliminate tuberculosis from India by 2025. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a distinctive call to end TB in India giving years ahead of the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) of 2030.
President Draupadi Murmu will also launched the a program called Ni-Kshay Mitras to adopt and provide nutrition to the Tuberculosis (TB) patients on 9th September 2022 .
The Ni-Kshay Mitra initiative will provide a platform for the donors to help TB patients who are undergoing treatment. The donors will be called Ni-Kshay Mitras, and the donation will include nutritional, additional diagnostic, and volcanic support.
It has been reported that 1 lakh 70 thousand patients were adopted under the program within 3 days of its commencement.
Over 9 lakh TB patients to be supported by Ni-KshayMitra initiative few days after launch. In just a few days after the launch, the number of supported TB patients has reached 2,77,793, according to government figures.
Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Mansukh Mandaviya informed through a tweet on Sep-15th Thursday that, 9.24 lakh TB patients will be supported by the Ni-kshay Mitra initiative, and 9.25 lakh TB patients have consented to receive the community support.
The event highlights the need for a societal approach that brings together people from all backgrounds to eliminate TB from the country by 2025. President Murmu will be accompanied by Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Minister of State for Health Bharati Pravin Pawar, other Union ministers, governors, and other dignitaries.
